Yesterday I was at Barcamp Brussels 3, and I enjoyed it a lot, it was a lot of fun and I met a lot of cool new people, and also the familiar faces. I also saw some very interesting presentations about MySQL Cluster, Symfony, and a very interesting presentation of Will on Freebase.

Freebase is, according to the site, a structured, searchable, writeable and editable database built by a community of contributors, and open to everyone. From what I’ve picked up from Will’s presentation its a bit like Wikipedia, but the data is structured, which is great. One of the coolest things I’ve seen about it is its ability to be queried by JSON. So I can actually ‘Look for actors from Ghent who were born between 1980 and 1999’. Which is just GREAT! I really love the idea. Thats why I’m calling out to all early adopters who are in this project, I want an invite! freebase at is the address to send it to. I’d love to start making mashups and stuff. I really want to play with it :-)
